Hi, I’m Philipp.
I’m a director and cinematographer. Mostly of creative documentaries, but also of fiction films and occasionally for TV. Originally from Hamburg, Germany, I studied Philosophy at Kings College London and then documentary directing at Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg.
I’m most interested in the stories of folks on the edges of society, from blind children to inmates at Berlin Youth Prison. I like to search for a sense of wonder in places where one would not expect it.
My work has been shown at festivals like Sundance, CPH Docs and Camerimage, longlisted for the Short Doc Academy Award, nominated for the IDA Award and the German Film Critics' Award, and licensed/commissioned by partners like The New Yorker, ZDF Kleines Fernsehspiel, SWR/arte or Google.
