EGGS, ROCKS, HUMAN BEINGS

This project is where I started and where I fell in love with documentary. Instead of six weeks, I ended up staying 6 months in Arviat. And I was in Arviat even when I was in Berlin, living life and gathering funding for my next trip. I am in touch with friends from there until today, and hope I will be able to return sometime. Arviat shaped me as a person, more than most other places I have been. We made a short film with the support of Film- und Medienstiftung NRW and a VR180 Mini Series, funded by Google Daydream. There's much more to say, but let's discuss this over a coffee, rather than on a website.

According to an ancient Inuit saying, we can raise children to become fragile like eggs, hardened like rocks, or well-adjusted human beings. How are young people in Arviat, Nunavut finding their way in the (not so) post-colonial Canadian Arctic?
